Phoney Cop Couple Caught In Hungary
A couple posing as police officers have been captured in Budapest, Budapest Police announced on Thursday. A 29-year-old man and his 25-year-old common-law partner were pretending to do house searches in order to break into and steal from homes, Budapest Police said. Proceedings are underway.

Telenor In Hungary Won’t Swallow Telephone Tax
Telenor will pass on added costs from the new telephone tax to subscribers unless one of the two taxes hitting the sector is phased out, communication director István Kutas announced yesterday. Telenor will face an additional Ft 1 billion burden per month, if the new tax, the second sectoral tax, begins July 1, Kutas observed.

We would like to thank Katalin Kovacs, Hungarian Olympic kayaking champion, for kindly donating for auction a picture she painted herself. The money collected from the auction will be used to extend United Way Hungary’s Safety School program to even more children. Our hope is to collect enough money to train volunteers in another 30 schools in Hungary, to teach students to how to be aware of their personal safety and the safety of others.

'My Budapest Inside the Outside World' Art Exhibit, 17 May
On May 17th, Fogashaz bar and theatre will be hosting an art exhibition prepared by a group of international students. The exhibit has one central theme, and yes you guessed it, the theme is Budapest. The art pieces are designed by students hailing from countries around the world, and will vary from sculptures to paintings conceptualising Budapest through the subjective eyes of international students living in the city.
